Landscape sketch

During my recent clear out of the studio, I came across a homemade sketchbook (it was in a pile of sketchbooks and had been long forgotten due to disorganisation!!)....

I found a pencil sketch I had done on one of our trips over Exmoor and decided to paint it in - whilst trying to remember the colours at that time!

close up

The greens I used were a mix of Aureolin (yellow), Ultramarine Blue.  For the darker greens I added Neutral Tint plus more pigment of the yellow and blue.    When that had all dried I did a mix of Burnt Sienna and Prussian Blue (makes a great very dark green).

    1. Thanks Laura. Nice to know that I have given you the inspiration to do some landscape sketching. Of course, I had to paint this one later and only had time for a quick pencil sketch at the time. Surprising how that helped though, as I managed to remember the scene later on.
