Boats and yachts

Living near to a working harbour means there is always some inspiration for painting...

...which usually involves a boat or two.  I apologise for my lack of knowledge about them...I've said it before and will say it again, but to me there is a Pointy end and a Blunt end!   never mind,  I get the occasional sketch out of them...

If any of you would like to use the top photograph of the harbour for a sketch or painting then please go ahead and use it.

  3. I, too, live surrounded by boats and I think they are so difficult to draw. Love your post!

  6. Lovely sketch. You got the pointy end right. :)) Lovely harbor too. We came from SO CAL a Beach area that had a wonderful Harbor there. Sure miss it sometimes. But only sometimes. :)

    1. Hi Robin, the house is infant a former Chapel and very small. Saying that apparently years ago a family had lived in it. Think I will do a post about it....had intended to do that ages ago...this has given me the prompt, cheers :)

  8. I love watercolor when used like this. The reflection in that soft greeny shade just turns me on!
Beautiful photo. I am envious you live so close to a thousand paintings waiting to be painted

    1. Thanks Julie. I enjoy these little watercolours, although the strange thing is where I exhibit and sell my paintings I actually only do canvases! Perhaps I should try watercolours too!

  10. Oh I just LOVE your boat sketch! I am so tempted to paint boats with their lines and curves, but the water intimidates me. Thank you for the offer of using your picture... I may just do that! Oh for courage... :-)

    1. Thanks so much, glad you like this sketch. Hope you give water a go. Have lots of 'play' at it first before committing to a painting. :)

    1. Thanks Paul. I limit my time for a sketch, that way I automatically put in only the important bits, it stops me getting lost in too much detail.
