Putsborough

At the other end of a three mile beach at Woolacombe, known as Putsborough, the storms have really had an affect.  The sand, which had covered rocks, has now disappeared - out to sea somewhere, and hence lots of boulders are now visible.  There was even an area man-made to help protect a handful of properties near the beach...

At least the blocks stayed in place

Further down and around the large rocks, which have always been visible, the smaller rocks and boulders are now clearly seen

The rocks below the cafe had been covered with sand too, but not now.... and it didn't take long for Surfers to return to the sea....

  1. Waves have been so wild. Look at those giant waves off Spain.....I fear lots of sand everywhere has washed away. xox

  5. I wonder where all the sand went. I know from how the coastline in Holland works, that it usually is deposited a little further down the coast. So who knows where it will turn up. :)

    1. Makes you wonder doesn't it Judy, it must be out there somewhere. We hope that eventually nature will sort itself out and bring it all back in again, with high winds and tides we guess it will :-)

  6. I tried leaving a comment and it disappeared in front of me...sort of like the sand, which we can only control for a short while until Mother Nature decides to surprise us.

    1. I know, it usually is sandy, these storms really took it out! The other day there were a couple of diggers down there moving some of the sand back. I think it will take some time to get it how it was though :-)
