More Jellyfish on the beach........

......I've done a Collage of them, including the previous pictures I showed you.  What an assortment we have seen recently.

PLUS

we have seen the Barrel Jellyfish

they can be the size of a dustbin lid, but this one was slightly smaller.
They are, apparently, the basking shark of the jellyfish world, the
gentle giant...(although a slight sting can be given it wouldn't cause serious harm).

here with the tennis ball to give you some idea of the size...

....and flipped over this is the other side

  1. I hate seeing these at the beach, but one year I was in CA and went to the Monterrey Aquarium. They had a display of them that was just gorgeous. When they are floating and you see them from below they are so lovely to watch. It made me appreciate them...a bit.

  3. Are people being told to stay out of the water? Are they just in Woolacombe or other places? I remember there were a lot on CM beach one summer.

    1. No, people aren't being told to stay out of the water. They have been reported in the paper and on TV, but luckily they are harmless. I wouldn't want to meet one in the water though! They are all around this area at the moment, the weather has brought them up on the Gulf Stream.
